Bennett Voyles grew up in Oregon, earned a bachelor’s degree in history and English at Yale, studied fiction and poetry at the University of Montana’s writers’ workshop, and holds an MBA in finance and marketing from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is working now on a book about a walk he made from Berlin to Rome with his wife, the artist and writer Cybèle Troyan, in the fall of 2018. The working title is Andjiamo, Schatzi! or A Ramble to Rome, Being an account of a 1,500 kilometer walk through Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, and Italy by two escapees of an empty nest. 

They live in Berlin, where he works as a business writer. Onward, Backward! is his first book under his own name.
